Kelly from The Way of All Flesh tells me later that he was a bit worried about following LBD based on how strong their set was and how well it had gone down.

However, TWOAF are as strong and reliable as always. If you like your Goth traditional, then you know you’re going to enjoy TWOAF. I don’t think they play any new songs tonight, so it’s going through the motions from debut ‘Espirit D’Escalier’, reminding everyone the strength of what they have done. I would not have minded a couple of newer numbers so they could demonstrate the strength of what they’re doing

I suppose the contrast between the two bands tonight is a kind of fire and ice. While
Dyonisis are mellow and enchanting, The Way of All Flesh are here to rock your
socks off.Well, they’re here to try and rock your socks off, but the heat means some people are
like yo-yo’s to the dancefloor (although some dedicated fans do dance the whole set
through). They actually play a specially extended set for this gig. Because of this you get the
album almost in its entirety, plus a good selection of new songs. Their album is a
strong album; fittingly they manage to take their set through some of the different
musical contrasts of the album. You can be blown away by ‘Final Resolve’ and then
get your lighters out for the balladic ‘Espirit D’escalier’.New material is also sounding promising, it’s keeping up a rockier pace and it’s
keeping that same core TWOAF sound. Having heard the songs once, it’s maybe too
early to case a verdict, but these are sounding like a natural and promising
progression of the band.I wasn’t really surprised there were calls for an encore, the band had made a real
impact, and it was nice to hear their version of ‘Alice’, although (not sure if anybody
noticed) Kelly forgot to tune his guitar back to normal, having detuned it for set
finisher ‘Last Words’. It’s a stonking cover and I wouldn’t be surprised if it crops up
in their set again from time to time. It’s a strong performance in whole and it really adds some added heat to an already

hot day! Perhaps my only criticism being the over-plugging of merchandise! I mean,
it’s important for the band to sell merchandise, but it gets a bit of overkill! Still, small
on the scope of it… . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .(8)

The Nightmare A’fore Christmas
….It took ages for the sound check to come around as the lampys were having lighting issues, but eventually it was an excellent sound check which gave us some confidence. The large amount of stella consumed before we hit the stage helped too; our set wasn’t until quite late on in the night so we’d all had a few when we eventually got up there. The start of the set was a bit shaky; starting with Andromeda with cold hands was probably a dangerous idea, as demonstrated by me dropping my pick in the first verse and having to play half of the set with my fingers. Dave also came in early for the first line which almost threw me, but we struggled through it. After I reclaimed by pick in the first break, it all came together. We’d played the set to peak earlyish, in an attempt to get people out and dancing straight away which appeared to work. Resolve had the floor moving and all of a sudden it filled up for White Wedding. Photos taken by Erica showed a pretty full room and the applause was good.
We debuted a new song, Second Skin, which we were all pretty nervous about but managed it. It might be just that little too slow, but people seemed to be swaying along in time. Any feedback on it would be appreciated!
Eventually, after an impromptu half-encore of Alice we disappeared off stage and gave it to SBA, which a suitably warmed up crowd! Hurrah!
It was then I noticed the above pictured miniature injury, and the blood I’d wiped across my face. Doh! One bright blue plaster later….
